Sea Pines Real Estate, Hilton Head Island
Sea Pines on Hilton Head Island is a 5,200 acre oceanfront luxury resort that put this small island on the map. It was originally named Sea Pines Plantation by its founders, Charles and Joseph B. Fraser, Jr., but the name has evolved over the years into the current, and possibly more befitting given its amenities, Sea Pines Resort. Its stunning natural beauty, augmented by five miles of pristine Atlantic Ocean shoreline-- as well as world-class amenities, including the famed Harbour Town Golf Links, Harbour Town Yacht Basin, South Beach Village & Marina, 15 miles of paved leisure trails, 23 tennis courts, an equestrian center, a 605-acre Forest Preserve, superb fishing and a myriad of watersportsare just some of the reasons why millions of guest visiting Hilton Head each year flock through the private gates.
Originally, Charles Fraser, often called the “inventor” of the modern American resort, originally envisioned selling only oceanfront and ocean-oriented lots. The plans were changed when a Boston architect developed the “T-Road”, which makes up rows of seaside homes. The lure of Sea Pines had begun and Fraser, along with local architects, then developed a style of architecture called “The Sea Pines Style”, influenced by the modern architecture movement, including Frank Lloyd Wright’s Auldbrass.
Today, as in yesteryear, Sea Pines continues to be a model for the eco-resort, having minimal impact on the surrounding wilderness and wildlife in the broader scheme of preserving Sea Pines’ natural beauty and appeal.
Price points for Sea Pines real estate start at $200,000 for wooded lots and surpass $9,000,000 for oceanfront homes.
